This is one of the most harrowing dog rescues I’ve ever seen. Frances, a Boxer-American bulldog mix, was spotted at random by a woman who noticed her in the stairwell of a vacant apartment building in Little Haiti, Florida.
When volunteers from 100 Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida came to rescue her, they were shocked at her condition. Frances was infested head-to-toe with ticks and unable to move because a heavy chain padlocked to her neck and hooked to a door jam. Worse yet, Frances also had suffered extreme head trauma; her eyes were bulging from their sockets.
The emotional video below follows rescuers as they free Frances from her chains and race her to their car.
Frances was rushed to the vet and unfortunately, her eyes could not be saved and had to be removed during surgery.
Now, under the watchful and loving care of her rescuers, Frances’ personality is coming out more and more. She finally knows she’s safe and loved.
She’s ready to take the next step – finding a loving forever home. Frances is up for adoption through 100 Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida.
Update 2017:
If you are wondering whatever happened to Frances, she got her happy ending!
Frances was adopted by Jan and Eric, who are showering her with lots of love.
She regularly naps on her humans.
And gives them kisses.
And she loves hanging out with her new sibling Max.
From the looks of this heartwarming video, Frances is giving her new family lots of love in return. (It may take a few seconds for the video to load.) Just look at that wagging tail!
