Sounds like he encountered a narcissist. He was getting love bombed and was in a love fog, so he didn’t see the red flags. He did say she was manipulative and that she was talking him down behind her back. He needs to cut all contact with her, as every time he interacts with her is validating her and feeding her narcissism.
