No matter what decisions we make throughout life, we eventually all end up coming home. Our home is the eternal source of care and support if the family bonds are built on strong and lasting pillars.
Yet, what makes a family is love, and where there is love, there is family.
Back in 2017, a woman from Colorado, Katie Page, adopted her son Grayson. She had been previously married, owned a home and had a good job, but she felt “incomplete without being a mother”,
She had some infertility issues and dreamed of adopting a child. Before she met Grayson, who was abandoned at the hospital, she cared for four foster children.
A month after she adopted the boy, the agency called her to inform her that a little girl named Hannah was in need of a foster home as well. Over time, as Katie began fostering her, she started to notice certain similarities between the children.
They had the same mark on the bodies and had the same dimpled chin.
Yet, the biological mother had listed different last names when placing the babies for adoption, so no one considered the option that the babies are actually siblings.
Yet, the story of the little girl was really similar to the one of Grayson. Moreover, the first name of the mother on her medical bracelet was the same as Grayson’s mom, and “she didn’t have a typical name.”
According to Katie Page, both children had been exposed to methamphetamines in the womb too. Page started investigating the matter, she inquired about Hannah’s biological mother and got a DNA test done on both children.
Yup..you can freely call it a mother’s intuition!
She was right! The two children had the same biological mother, which made the entire process much easier, and Katie officially adopted the girl in December of 2018.
Two years later, this remarkable woman found out that her children had another sibling, the one-year-old Jackson. Initially, the boy was set to go to another foster home, but a caseworker decided to intervene.
Although Katie is a single mother, she decided to give the little boy a chance to grow up with his biological siblings.
She said:
“When Jackson came along I just felt the best I could give him are his family and siblings that he identifies and feels connected to.”
And she did adopt the boy too in June, and their virtual adoption ceremony was attended by over 30 friends and family!
Page said that the moment she held him, she felt incredibly happy, knowing that “this is their brother, this is their family.’
On the video call, this family connected to the one of Kaci and Dustin Whitney, the adoptive parents of two little girls who also have the same biological mother as Katie’s three children.
These remarkable parents organized a beach trip to Florida, and the five children met one another there!
This made Katie overjoyed, as when she adopted Grayson, she felt terrible that she would not be able to provide him any information on his biological family.
She said:
“Three sisters and a brother now sit beside and will grow up with him. He has more love and family members that love him than I ever dreamed possible.”
Katie Page shared a photo of the five siblings on Instagram, and captioned it: “This is us.”
Impressive story of love!
