Dogs and other animals can certainly become best friends. They build a special connection with each other and are often inseparable. For that reason, some people often adopt two dogs at the same time. That way they will never be lonely and always have each other to count on.
Dogs can also share a very special bond with their owners!
It’s not uncommon to see a four-footer and his or her owner do everything together, and that was the case for the adorable Fulmine and her owner Leonardo.
Fulmine and Leonardo lived a very happy life together in Italy for over seven years, and they were each other’s best buddies.
Leonardo’s daughter Sara Sechi still recalls their heartwarming moments together.
“They were very affectionate,” Sechi said to The Dodo. “They were always cuddling.”
Tragically, Leonardo had been battling a severe illness.
Sadly, he wasn’t able to take care of Fulmine anymore.
When he was hospitalized and had to stay there for a while, Leonardo’s family took care of the adorable Fulmine, but it was evidently clear that the four-footer simply missed her owner so, so much.
“Every time a car approached, Fulmine would run to the gate in case it was my father,” Sechi recalls.
When Leonardo passed, it left his family heartbroken, including Fulmine.
The poor, sad dog constantly looks for Leonardo and, one day, he actually found him at his final resting place.
After the loving man was buried, his daughter Sechi took her son along to lay some flowers at their beloved father and grandfather’s grave.
They were absolutely shocked to see that they weren’t alone at his grave.
Fulmine was already there.
He went to visit Leonardo’s grave all by himself.
The walk was over 2 miles long.
Regardless, Fulmine knew exactly where to go and did it completely by himself.
Most other dogs would simply get lost, especially because there’s a lot of open countryside areas, but Fulmine was looking for his owner and finally found him.
Even though the four-footer was noticeably upset, Fulmine also seemed to know that his owner was now resting here and wouldn’t be coming back home.
“I did not expect to find him there,” Sara added. “He hadn’t been at the funeral. I have no idea how he knew where to go.”
And it wasn’t just this one time either. Fulmine reportedly visits Leonardo’s grave every day.
“We think he goes there every day.”
Nobody has an idea how Fulmine even knew where to go, and they’re all stunned.
“I like to think he’s guided by his love for my father. Or that my father led him there,” Sechi said. “It’s one of those strange things without a real explanation.”
Fulmine now lives with Sara and her little boy.
Even though Leonardo will never be replaced or forgotten, these two are certainly becoming best friends.
“It makes me emotional to think about how much my father loved Fulmine, and how much Fulmine loves him,” the woman concluded. “It’s sad to see him grieving, but we will slowly overcome this sad moment together.”
